What's happening on Deer Creek?

We drove up there Sunday and it looked good. Original plan was Starvation but we got a late start and little sleep, so we pulled over at Charleston, got all ready, started walking toward the water and the dogs took off and in my sleep-hazed brain it clicked....NO DOGS ALLOWED. (Charlie Brown reference.) We packed up and headed to Jordanelle, 7-8 inches of ice but only 3.5 or so was solid black ice, caught a 21" brown right off the bat on a plain nightcrawler that was supposed to go on the jawjacker, then little rainbows all day.

People were apparently walking onto the ice at Charleston right at the parking lot with no trouble. There was a report weekend after last on here about DC where they were saying the catching was just as good as I had at Jordanelle.

Drove by DC yesterday and saw 3 guys on the ice south of the Island. Where was the ice you were on at Jordanelie, want to go to the Hailstone area.

Did you see anyone catching perch? Any size to them?

We were just out from Rock Cliff in 20 FOW, the first point past the buoys. There were big wet spots in front of the dam all around maybe 300-400' out, not sure about Hailstone. There's some dang cold weather for the next couple days but next week is going to be a little warm in the middle of the week.

Thanks so much for the good info. 2 weeks ago I was fishing from the shore juat north of the island. Fishing was good but I couldn't feel my fingers. Next time I'll take some wood and have a little fire to warm my fingers. Thanks again guys
