For those venturing to Cascade it's not pretty as of today we postponed our original trip and did make it up there a week ago. Fishing was slow but each day we brought fish to be cleaned. Bite was very finicky. No issues with snowmobiles during our trip. Never busted through to slush layer at all. However various areas we were warned about we didn't venture to. It was a fun time with old and dear friends.
So a word of caution again per my very reliable sources as of today conditions are nasty rain and Cascade is a slush monster hard core Anglers stayed off ice...so if you are headed up there be safe and smart. Leave ATV at home is alls I'll say or plan on renting a machine or walking out if there's no hard cold weather.
Here's our trip recap video

Being a home grown Utah boy, I think I wouldn't know what to do if I caught a perch that big. I always thought they were suppose to grow to only be 6 inches LOL. I showed my sons this video and they thought it was awesome you were catching "tiger fish". Thanks for posting.

Great video and thank you for the report. I'm headed up Thursday hopefully the weather straightens out by then. We were planning on it being nasty. I'm taking snow shoes for sure.

Cascade is a mess here's a post from a friend on Facebook
Caution, caution, caution! We cannot stress this enough for Lake Cascade right now. Warm and rainy weather has created very difficult travel conditions on the ice. The slush monster has taken over the lake.
The lake is covered with deep slush in places and standing water on the ice. We fished this last Sunday and were absolutely soaked by mid day. We called it early because of conditions. Everything was soaking wet. Not good for rods, tackle, electric drills, flashers, snow machines, etc.
As you can see in the photo, one of our members had recent troubles on the lake.
I would not recommend travel on the ice with snow machines and UTV's right now. Travel by foot is ok but be prepared for water and slush up to six inches or deeper, some places 12 inches deep. The ice under the slush and water is still good, averaging at 20 inches under the mess.
Warm weather is in the forecast for the next few days before cold temperatures return. The lake needs to firm up the top layer before machines head back out on the ice.
The Western Ice Fishing Association promotes ice safety. We do not want to see anyone get hurt or worse while ice fishing. Make good choices, check ice conditions, the weather forecast, and your gear before you venture out.
If you are aware of other places and ice fishing destinations that have safety issues, please post them here for our members. We all need to be aware and share this important information.
Happy fishing,
Western Ice Fishing Association
