Went back out to the Ut. Lake, AF Harbor to check on the ice. The piles are bigger and the main lake ice is grey, just need more wind to blow it off. Didn't have time to drive down to Lincoln Beach, but my assumption is that there is a great deal of open water down there. One very interesting thing is the amount o mud/dirt that the ice dug up when it hit the very shallow water.

There are also some pics of the AF river, running quite high right now, it actually has water in it. They are expanding the parking lot on the west of the entrance, right now they are taking out trees to prep the area. They are also drilling a new water well on the east of the entrance.

Lots going on at AF Harbor !!!

Remember, all this is happening almost 6 weeks ahead of the traditional break up on Utah Lake. Will be interesting to see how the lake level comes up now !!

Those are nothing !! Back in the flood years, 80-84, the ice piled up 40-50 ft on Provo harbor dike. The ice was 8-10 inches thick and the wind was blowing sheets 20-30 ft square across the ice sheet. They would hit the shore and blow up and shoot 20-30 ft into the air. There was worry that the State building at the park was going to be taken out by the ice sheets, but they never penetrated the inner harbor. It was spectacular however to see !! Bird Island will get stacked up that high pretty much every year and can be seen from most anywhere around the lake !
