Just wondering if anyone has been doing good out there this year. We can barely average 10 fish a day. Very depressing when it's so slow. Maybe time to find a new spot on the lake.

For me Strawberry ice fishing has been more about time off day and less about location. One year I fished the same general area all day with very few fish. The sun went down and the fish started hammering the glow paddle bug tipped with Berkeley Gulp corn.

When were you there last? I'm thinking of going tomorrow and I'm trying to get a report on how much slush is on the ice. I really don't want to ice fish in waders.

I used my waders today or I would have been soaked. Chicken crack the work was not worh the effort today. My buddy caught a couple but I was skunked.

Thanks for the info, Stickleback. It stinks when there is a lake on top of the lake. I have worn waders ice fishing but I usually try to reserve them for the stream or the float tube.

I meant to post about our trip to Renegade last Saturday but I have had a very busy week at work.

We did very well early and then it slowed as the day went on. We fished in 39 fow with white jigs tipped with wax worms. We caught all slot cutts with one buster and no bows.

Now that I have better data and I am not panting like an old fat worn out dog a bit more info. Every 3rd step I took I sunk to my knees. That was on the trails. Full disclosure-- I am packing close to 300 on my size 13 feet. Walked out about 1000 yards. At first I was afraid I was going to die. Then on they way back I was afraid I wasn't going to die. That was my last trip of the year. I hope my sore muscles will recover before the catfish competition starts.

See I agree. But we used to average 15-20 fish a person. With a lot of those being caught the second it got light. Now we are lucky to average 10 a person. We have tried nightfishing that place so much. I think our best trip was maybe 4 fish a person. Very Sad. Last Saturday. Conditions were good. TONS of snow on th ice. I've heard the lot is slushy and the slush was starting to come back onto the ice by the time we left last week. Hope to hear a report if you head up.

icefishingman, I was up there, soldier creek side, today with 2 friends and the fishing was slow 4+hrs and only 8 fish between us. The preferred jig/bait was a pink head/white body rat finkie tipped with wax worm. I tried my go to paddlebug with Gulp! corn, but nada! Tried various jigs, meal worms, shrimp, sucker meat, etc. 5 slot limit cutts and 3 bows. Had some fish thieving golden eagles around. Guard your fish!

Sticklback, thanks for the advice on waders. for me the slush was mid-calf and would have soaked me good without the waders.
