Im thinking about going to Echo Tuesday morning to try and get into some perch I'm thinking with the colder weather for the next couple of days and with a ladder to cross the open water we should be safe. I was wondering if anyone has gotten out there this weekend that may have tried for some perch to give some guidance to where to start and if I'm going to be wasting my time.
thanks everyone

From the highway and on my way back from Flaming Gorge, I saw a few ice fishing, but no tents and not the crowd I saw a couple weeks ago. I saw water at some of the edges. But, it would be better to hear from someone who was actually on the ice. I hope we have at least one more weekend for ice fishing, but I remember last season ended early. Then there's ice off and hungry fish!

(Copied from my post yesterday) Made it out on echo today 2/12 for a couple hours, ice was plenty thick (12") once I made it over the incredibly sketchy plank fashioned out of a 2x8 split down the middle with a 2x4 right next to it for good measure. Definitely couldn't have done it without the low temps last night! Anyway, first line in the water I instantly had a hit but missed it as it caught me off guard. Fished that spot for 45 minutes with no luck then moved north towards the dam! After about 40 more minutes I hooked into a 17" bow which ended up being all that I caught in the 2 hours I was there. Although the fishing was slow for me and the 2 guys next to me, (they also only caught one 14" bow), I'm glad I was able to get in one last outing as I can finally put the ice gear to bed.
Something I left out I was fishing in 29-15' FOW and I was in an area I've know the perch to be but couldn't get them to even entertain me. There are a few places near the pullouts that with the cold temperatures overnight you should be able to get out with a ladder or long plank (10' should do) but as always USE EXTREME CAUTION! Best of luck!

Ice was good not many bites. We used a ladder to access the ice safely but you might be able to find somewhere to cross, no slush, but slow fishing only a few bites. We fished spoons grubs and lures all times with worms and at different depths over by the dam with no luck. Ice was about 12 inches though so it's doable for someone that knows more of what they are doing then I do.

where did you access from and how wide was the gap between shore and solid ice?
thanks,
LT
We accessed at the shore down from that first parking area after the damn (coming from I-80). The gap was about 5 maybe 10 feet we used a 15 foot ladder
