1 pound of ground moose meat

1 large chopped onion

1 pkg of onion soup mix

1 cup chopped celery

1 28 oz. can of diced tomatoes

1 small chopped turnip

5 cups of water

4 chopped carrots

½ cup pearl barley

½ cup brown rice

1 can tomato soup

½ tsp thyme

1 bay leaf

2 tsp Montreal steak spice

1 tsp of salt or to taste

Brown meat in a small amount of oil, add onions and saute until tender. Place meat in a large Dutch oven with all other ingredients. Bring to a slow boil, reduce heat and simmer 1 ½ hour or until vegetables are tender and barley/rice cooked. Serve with crusty bread or cheezy scones.
