Friday I caught this rainbow at Starvation. It burped up two 2 1/2" perch and when I cleaned it I found two additonal 2 1/2" perch and a 5 1/2" perch in its stomach!

How very piscivorous!

Hi Kent,
I was good to meet you and Richard on Friday. One of the 19" rainbows I caught that day had over 10 of the small perch in it's belly. Once those larger rainbows start eating the small perch, they get to the size that we can call them "Starvation Steelhead".
I hope to meet up with you guys in the future.

[#0000FF]Nice fish. Guessing it weighed about 4#.

A couple of years ago there were some larger survivors showing up...up to about 6#.

I'll bet it was a challenge convincing that fish that it needed to come up through the hole to join you.

Any other species?

I caught the one rainbow and too many smaller perch to count. The largest perch was maybe 9". Richard did much better - variety wise. He caught 2 walleye (one nice one and one that was just a baby), one nice brown, many perch and several trout (most were of the recent planter variety). I invited the small perch home. They will join me on sturgeon trips later.

Mike, it was a pleasure meeting you and Ron. Appreciate the tip on how to fish for the walleye. It didn't work that day but I'm sure it will pay off on future trips to Starvation and elsewhere. Hopefully, our paths cross again on the water.
