Made a quick run to the south end of Utah lake last night with the kids from shore. Nice evening with a small north west breeze. The cats were there and barely willing to bite. The bite was so light the kids had a hard time hooking anything. I was able to pick up 4 catfish, 3 smaller ones and this nicer one. We forgot our BFT logo so didn't enter it in the contest, but I'm not worried I plan to catch many more bigger than him. We have discovered that in the coldest months of the year, early spring and late fall, we can catch more cats on a couple different kinds of punch baits than on the fresh cut carp and white bass. As was the case today, all my cats came on the danny kings punch bait and the white bass rods had such light bites we couldn't hook them. The other punch bait that works well is Jpiggs, but that stuff is so nasty if your kids get it on them your wife won't let you fish anymore. None of the stuff you can buy in the store has worked for us at all and they don't have the fibers mixed in to cling to the hook. Good luck to all you catfishers with this nice warm weather.
