Last night I caught a 14" channel cat, a carp I didn't measure, and a mud cat.
I didn't have the logo, and hope to catch bigger cats, so no entry in the contest. I used a worm for bait on all 3.

Nice job Josh, I tried it last night also and I got skunked. Thanks for the post. Glad to know its time. Later J

Nice Josh. hope you find some big ones. Team North is getting murdered. southern boys are finding lots of nice cats out of UL.

Us northern guys need to go to UL all the same day, all catch our one allowed BIG contest Cat, and push our team total up......[sly]

BiggWimm already did that... guess the rest of us need to pay attention... later J

Hey Ahi, it was good meeting you last weekend. Too bad we couldn't hook up with any cats. Are you planning on going out this weekend? I definitely would like to get out but I'm still Undecided as to where want to try.

nice to meet you also zburninator. If I get to go this weekend I will more than likely hit the bird refuge again. Its where most of my fish came from last year. Hopping it works this year.

Well I may just see there. I'm almost tempted to go somewhere and trying catching a nice rainbow between fishing for cats. We'll see

The bear is breaking its banks!!!!!! been out a few times recently... The current is raging!!!! making it very hard to fish. So much water this year is forcing them to let more water out. The current is so strong my trolling motor at full power cant push through it, and forget about anchoring anywhere near the channel. I will continue to try!!! Its unfortunate because in my opinion the best cat fishing is in the spring! hoping the fishing will improve!!

Yup all the rivers in the valley are booming like crazy now, so I don't expect much decent fishing for a while... I'm hoping some of the sloughs will have fish, but so far I can't find any fish... Maybe I'll try later this afternoon and hopefully get lucky and find a couple... if so I'll let ya know where they were... later J

current is ripping making it almost Impossible to shore fish. need to use an anchor from the Queen Mary for a sinker. I have been lucky and have hooked a few fish but with more rain coming they may close Forest St again.

Didn't make it out, had other things come up, but it was breezy and turned cool, so I was starting to think they wouldn't bite anyway... Now today more rain, so guess I won't chase them this weekend... Got to get my taxes done anyway so this is a good excuse... Later J

I'd say "broken". Did a little scouting Sat Morn, and had to explain to my friend where the river banks started and ended, because everything around Benson Church was flooded.

Jeff, seems like the Sloughs ARE part of the river, at least for now.
Crazy!

I've never seen water coming over the Cutler dam, usually just running down the pipe. But may, it's a raging rapid! I would see a kayaker wet himself looking at that, but I sure as hell wouldn't try it! There's a butt-load of big rocks down right below the damn.

Newton is full, and ice is off. Bear is overflowing, Logan also - down by the golf course and such, it's run over the banks. Blacksmith is also chocolately-churning!

Be safe out there!

Bet a good warm day and the carp will be up in the flooded fields doing either fishy lambada! Bows and Pitchforks!

Where you been launching? I've been launching at Corrine and heading down river, found some good spots to anchor. Wish it would quit raining so I could get out again.

Hey Yote, it's a mess for fishing with all the high water and flooding. I've pretty much given up on the river until the waters recede a little. Last night the river was as high as I've seen it this spring, well tied at a previous high mark. Maybe next week I'll get out and try again. The water is so high you can't get a boat under even the high bridges now. Not that you'd want to be on that wild water, it's a good time to avoid it so you don't end up drowning. Still wondering if the backwaters might be holding misplaced fish though. Anyway sometime this spring it will get good though. Later J

Ahh the irony of it all... love to see UL come up daily with good cattin' while you guys up north can't fish because of too much water.[Smile] We just need the water to level out a bit and then the serious cattin' can begin.

I took a little ride out to Lincoln this a.m. -- too windy -- and it was nice to see the rock ledge at the first spring that has been a parking lot all winter ain't no more. The rising water has completely covered it. Water is welcome down this way... hope things improve for you guys up north. I'd had to see you fall back on "too much water" as an excuse for losing the cat contest this year.[Wink]

And... good to see Yote back among the posters.... kinda missed him and his pointed comments.

Good fishin' ahead.

Hey Lynn all that water is just growing them bigger, by the time we catch them it will take a winch to get em into the boats. If I get my taxes taken care of this week, I'll get serious about a cat trip and we'll see what's up for this year. So get ready for some competition. Good luck. J
