[#0000FF]There have been live pacu caught from Utah Lake, but they were likely newly dumped from someone's aquarium. As that article stated, these fish are tropical and cannot live in cold water.
Howsomever, there are reports of pacu alive and well in Blue Lake...the warm springs lakes south of Wendover. They were likely illegally planted by divers...the same ones who put the tilapia in there. There is a mandatory keep and kill regulation on them for that water.

Won't be skinny-dipping in Blue Lakes! Might lose one of the beans!

As someone who has been diving in Blue Lake, I've always questioned why anyone would think that divers put Tilapia in there. The Blue Gill were always friendly, and better looking. I would suspect the same folks who seem to use Ticante Tackle, and who seem to have little or no respect for personal property were the ones who put their favorite food fish in Blue Lake. If a diver were going to put something in Blue Lake, they'd at least pick something that was good looking.

[#0000FF]I tend to agree with you on the likely origin of the tilapia. But DWR points the finger at divers.
I know a few divers who hit that pond a bit and they tell tales of some other exotic intros...usually of the aquarium type. Even heard tell of a snakehead. Thankfully they don't all survive and reproduce but they do surprise folks on occasion...either swimming up to a diver or showing on an angler's line.

It would be wise if anglers followed the rule: If you catch something that clearly does not belong in that water, don't release it. And do report it to the DWR.

[#0000FF]How dare you include the words "wise" and "anglers" in the same sentence?
But...as always...your words are wise. The one good thing about the majority of anglers who fish those little ponds is that they usually DO keep everything they catch...including overlimits of undersized bass.
