Like a few others here that are hoping for one last ice trip for the season, I am considering going to Fish Lake. I read earlier in the week that some went, just looking for a more recent update on edges, ice safety and catching. Also, anyone know if the recent storm produced snow, rain or nothing in that area.
Thanks

Bad news my friend. The Facebook page says two people fell in at Joe Bush trying to recover tents being blow by the wind.

They are recommending we stay off the ice.

Was at Joe Bush last weekend and by Sunday night ice was getting pretty rotten ! We had ATV's and hit lots of slush pockets coming across the lake . Coming off the lake was real slushy . Fishing was good . I would stay off the ice . Strange ice conditions this year. Stay Safe !!

Ice is still plenty safe aka 14" the main problem is trying to find a good parking spot to get on the ice. Got back from and ice fishing tournament and the south end parking lot across the shop is close.

Called the Resort, they said it was still fish-able so took the chance and took the long drive to Fish Lake. As mentioned in the post above, the parking area on the South end was closed due to unsafe edges. There are areas of open edges where there are springs. Found plenty of places to park and go out on the ice. The main body of the ice is still plenty thick, no slush today. The edges were fine getting on and off but one could see where they have been getting soft in the recent past. I brought a plank but did not need to use it.
The catching was great for trout, fair for perch, things kind of died down around 10:30-11:00 am ish, about when the storm started to blow in. Glad I made the drive and didn't take a swim! Guess it's time to put away the ice gear and start getting the yard in shape [
