So far this year I've been on Willard eight or nine times, with nothing but skunk stink to show for it. Today, even with the fluctuating weather, I decided to give it another shot. Finally, I landed a fish. Picked up a pretty good walleye out of freeway bay. It appeared to have already spawned. Unfortunately, it was hooked too deep and i damaged it's gills trying to unhook and release it. Had to keep it. Water temperature was 48.6 degrees, about 5 degrees colder than prior to yesterday's downpour. When I got back to the south marina, a couple of guys were unloading a gold dredge. Stopped to talk to them for a minute. Turns out they were giving it a shakedown prior to heading to Alaska next week for the summer.
