Went to the Berry last evening hoping to find safe ice to get on. Took 7 foot planks and everywhere we stabbed went right through.
The edges are soft unstable and up to 20 feet out.
Do not attempt to go ice fishing at the Berry. It is no longer safe.
Sadly hanging up the ice fishing gear until next year.

] Thanks for the report. I guess I will go back to bed and dream about the last trip we had. It's great we had so much snow this year, but it sure wreaked havoc on the ice fishing season. Speaking of which, how was the snow depth around the area?

Sad to see her go so early .... last year my last trip was April 11, so we've lost 3 weeks on the ice....but I wouldn't trade it for all the great snow we've had....Time for tuning trolling tactics!...Guluk...

there is still a good amount of snow up there.
Not much left on the ice but a lot on the hills and surrounding the lake. The snow on the ice has turned to rotting slushy ice.
The road to SC marina will likely not be drivable for another month, there is still a mountain of snow on top of the road, same for SC dam road. The road to the Marina is clear and you can access the Ladders and Chicken Creek East just fine.
I suspect ice off will happen in the next 3 weeks.
There is a really large portion of open water at the Ladders.

hope the berry fills up this year.

150% median snowpack around the reservoir, as much as 200% in some areas. Should be a good year as long as it doesn't heat up all at once this spring.
