Hello, I am new to the site but have been a long time reader and enjoy all the information. We want to pull an 18 foot Ranger down the Blue Notch road, if we can, and would like a road condition if anyone has one, thank you very much!

Thanks for signing up, good to have you with us... Pretty sure some of the group will be able to help you, but I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question... Good luck J

I'm pretty hesitant to pull my Ranger down any dirt road at all.....so my opinion may be a bit biased....

no way in hell I'd pull my Ranger down the Blue Notch road!

Good luck. Take pictures for us!

The Blue Notch Road will be virtually impassable for pulling a trailered boat. To many rocks and ruts. On top of that, at the current lake level, you will have a 10-15ft drop from the top of the rocks down to the water. If you are determined to launch up on the north end of the lake, go to White Canyon or Knowles Canyon which have primitive launch sites. It is a short run down lake around the horn to Blue Notch and the upper end of Good Hope bay !!
Wow that's good to know, The only time I have been down that road was when we were bighorn sheep hunting. I guess the best bet is to go up from Bullfrog like we did last year, which was a lot of fun, I will post pictures when we go , thanks for all the help

You will need to go on to the Lake Powell site and ask that question. I hear it has been graded but an 18ft Ranger is going to be a problem- but you will get a much more knowledgeable answer if you go in that direction (WaynesWords.com)

Is your Ranger boat nice?

that Blue Notch road is primitive. As has already been mentioned, it is not a road for pulling a trailered boat down -- especially if it's a nice boat. Most Ranger boats are pretty nice -- like I mentioned earlier, I won't even pull mine down a dirt road! Blue Notch wouldn't even be a consideration.

Now, if I had a 16ft aluminum Jon boat that I could launch by hand, and haul in the back of a truck? OK, now I'd consider it...

no need to go to Wayne's Word's for that advice. I give it freely here. Smile

Believe him! He knows of what he speaks.

A small aluminum boat on a beater trailer would be OK but don't even consider taking a nicer boat and trailer down that road. It's 13 miles plus of rocks, ruts and washes that can change with each rainshower.

I hauled my old 14 foot Jon (read duckboat) boat in and out of Blue Notch many times back in the day when the water levels were much higher and it wasn't too difficult to launch a small boat off the sloping shoreline.

Just enjoy the 28 mile trip up from Bullforg. There is a good chance we will be able to launch at Hite once the lake level comes up and that's predicted to happen, probably in May.
