Buddy & I played guessing game w/weather & went south for Sun-Tue trip to
Sand Hollow. Arrived Friday & had great success from 1-5pm catching nearly 30 largies from 14 to 18+ inches. Sunny & relatively calm up top, water at 59-61.
Most productive depths were 15-22'. Tried shallow, but nada. Weather & fishing slowly went downhill from there. Didn't catch as many all day Mon, plus smaller size, lighter bites & shorter bites. Whitecaps from the south from noon on didn't help. Water dipped to 57, and we got blown off the lake at 5pm. Awoke to even gustier rollers from the north this morn, but lost patience & hope waiting them out. Launched at 9am and tired of the bumper car boat control, so headed home to SLC soaked & fishless at 10:30. Not even a bite in the 49-deg water. No historian, but lake level highest I've seen it in the last 5 years. Ranger said it was 6' from full pool. Water up to that cottwd tree on north edge of ramp. Can only get better from here on out. All fish, even the 12s & 13s, are fat & sassy.

Spring fishing at its best! Glad to see that you got into them early on... should only get better as the water temps get to mid 60s.

We were on the water on the 27th as well, and we wacked them pretty good. It was calm when we arrived, so we went bed fishing and wacked a few before the wind turned on...then we stayed tight to the dams and slow rolled those spinner baits. We caught around 30. Water temps were in the mid 50's, water clarity has decreased with the recent influx of muddy Virgin River water they pump in every spring. I think it helps the bite when they do that, make the fish a little less nervous of predation. We are back out there today, I'll report back.
