Cliffs: Fished the north end. Falling water killed the early shallow bite. Caught 7 in the afternoon, nothing over 3#.

Date: 2017/03/25
Water level: falling to 677.8
Current: ~20k
Water temp: 55-64
Clarity: Super muddy-kinda muddy
Wind: 10-15 S

Missed a huge bite the day before, so started out the morning in that same area. Threw the kitchen sink and didn’t have so much as a dink. Even the people around throwing live bait weren’t having any luck. I didn’t realize till about 930 as to why.. TVA dropped the bottom out of the lake - nearly a foot overnight! Whether or not the fish moved out or just had lockjaw, it completely shut down what I had going on the previous day. I moved around creek to creek trying to put something together. Headed back for lunch at the cabin with a big goose egg to show for the morning.

Not having any history on the lake, and hoping the afternoon warmth would pick up the shallow bite, I stuck to fishing the only thing I had found. Around 2:00 I finally found a couple shorts on a square bill off a wind blown spawning point. Moved further into the Hiwassee river area and fished a cove on the east side. 64 deg water. Fished all around in this cove with a trap and square bill catching 3 shorts and 2 small keepers. Headed back around the Hiwassee island to finish out the day, unable to add to the total.
