Hi guys,
I was planning on fishing Willard on Sunday but happened to do a driveby today and it was really churning. I don't have much experience on this body of water and was hoping for some input from you guys that have as to whether the lake needs to settle before fishing gets back to normal or if this is nothing to be concerned about.
Just kind curious

Willard can be tough under ideal conditions. I bet it is even worse under the current conditions, but perhaps someone will beg to differ, and that is fine.

I had my hopes up for Willard on Sunday as the forecast is for nice calm weather but I might just go with the Bear instead. Willard looked like a brown muddy mess when I drove by on I15 but that could have been just my mind playing tricks on me and visual perception.
I'll be going somewhere because in over 50 years of trying I still haven't caught anything without a line in the water.

Willard is muddy from the high winds for the past 3 days. We trolled today from 6pm - 8pm caught one nice walleye...use bright colors speed 1.1mph....water temps holding near 49 deg...still too cold...

Thanks Dwayne, I'm going to give it a try early this morning. I'll be in a yellow kayak if anyone from bft is out there and wants to stop and say hello.

I'm thinking about going tomorrow but I've been skunked twice there this year and don't know if my self esteem can take a third in a row ha

Well my self esteem took a hit today. I gave it an honest 5hr effort but couldn't get it done. The wind was coming from the south when I started and picked up a little mid morning. I decided to make a lap or two around the marina while waiting for the wind to die down a little then headed back out fishing freeway bay. I got to a point where I was turning the yak around, the wind calmed for maybe 5 minutes and came around to the north. I paddled back to Pelican Beach and decided to call it a day. All in all it was a good day even if the fish chose not to cooperate with my methods.

The one sure thing about Willard is that there is no sure thing, I did pretty good last year, fairly consistent on wipers and walleye, but so far this year I'm 0 for 3 I keep telling myself that I will do better when the water temp gets a little warmer, (would be hard to do worse)it showed 48 this morning.

I'm going to head up ther tomorrow morning hopefully things can work out for a few fish. Since the waters colder I'm assuming we've got to slow things down quite a bit right? My new prop for my kicker isn't in yet and can only get it down to 1.2 mph..
