Heading to east canyon with my girlfriend tommorrow. Only been once, so looking for some advice on where it might be hot from shore. More concerned with where, then what to fish with. Also we plan on getting their around 9am, we need to be up earlier then that for the hot morning fishing?

East Canyon fishing has been hot from the bank just to the right side of the boat launch area. With water levels coming up daily, hopefully this area is still fishable. We were using corn or lemon twist power bait and floating it up 18" above a slip weight or bubble.
Rainbow's were averaging around the 16-17 range.
Good luck and don't forget to pay the day use fee.

I would go to the east side around the bathroom area. They are always biting in that area and it easy up and down bank. Good luck let us know how you do.

The simplest answer is to go where you see others fishing - and especially catching.
Don't crowd in, of course.

Went up there fishing from boat last Thursday, it was a very good day catching. Again went on Saturday but more in the afternoon and another good catch. My goal was to make adjustments on my new sonar unit and came to the conclusion that this was not a good time to do that with all of the debris floating and the water is stained. But fishing is doing good from boats and on shore.

We ended up with 7 in 5 hours, and lost more then we caught. The first two hours, we didn't catch anything, but we moved around a little bit and finally got into some steady fish for 2 hours. The last hour didn't produce at all. We could only get fish to bite in one small area, if the worm and bobber wasn't drifting over the money hole, it was almost worthless to let it sit out their. The wind was blowing pretty good, so got my girlfriend casting ahead of the hole, and if it was a perfect drift , it usually was fish on. This was her first time catching rainbows, and kinda her first taste of fishing, so she had a blast! She's ready to do alot more fishing this year, as of yesterday, so I'm praying she keeps up the enthusiasm, and continues to love it.

Nice work. That's a good looking Rainbow. EC can be a beast when that wind kicks up. Looks like you figured them out.
