Well, Dad and I worked our butts off for the duration of the tournament to get the fish in the boat that we brought to the weigh station. The conditions were tough - chilly north wind, overcast, tough bite, etc. I knew that we would need a 5 plus'r in our bag to have any kind of a shot. We just could not make that happen. Dad had one on that we believe would have been a difference maker but she jumped and threw his shakey head before she was close enough to net. We got a good look at the fish and it was in the 5 pound class. As we all know thats fishing.

We started out on shallow shorelines leading back into spawning areas throwing lipless cranks & JB's. We had a 3 fish limit by 8:30. Got that behind us but we needed more weight. Caught good numbers doing that, - fun but not much size. The best 3 at that point were probably around 5 to 6 pounds. Our feeling was that we were not going to get any size on that pattern; so we made a decision at about 11 o'clock to fish our strength and move off into some deeper water; thats just our comfort zone. Ran to a couple of channel banks that have been producing for me lately and that is where our 2 best fish came from, not to mention the one that Dad had on but slipped near the boat. These fish were in 15-20 F.O.W. and I was using a jig with craw trailer and Dad was using a shakey head.

Congratulations to Earl and Nathan on the win.

Thanks to the committee for the hard work of keeping everything organized.

See y'all next time.

Our best 3:
