Fishing report -- bass and crappie. A short trip today. We fished lizards-worms-cranks. We weren't targeting beds so much as that just happens to be where most of the bass are right now. I have caught a few in a post spawn pattern the last few days. Anyway...no takers so we pick up the crappie rods. Bang ! We don't start catching crappie but the bass are hitting the 1/32 oz. crappie jigs. I lose a 3 pounder and less then a minute later Deb hooks a big one. Everything is working great. I can tell she has a great hookset even with her tiny hook and her drag is just right. It's all looking good than one last run...into the big motor prop ! Noooooo....gone ! We're stunned...and she's just sick. My estimate of the fish was 7-8 pounds.

To add insult to injury we leave and come back a little over an hour later. A guy in a kayak fishing his last day of an online tournament is measuring a 23 inch bass that he caught in the exact spot where we had been fishing. He said it was the largest he had ever caught in his kayak and on Chickamauga. It had a big girth and looked close to 8 pounds. I asked him if it had a crappie slider in it's mouth ? emoSmile

Quite a few pros on the lake and some CFF folks. A day to remember for a lot of reasons -- mostly bad. If you want to read more about the bad luck we had on our trip I'll be posting a thread shortly in the Fishing Discussion forum. It's a must read ! emoLaugh I need some advice also.
