Went out yesterday evening hit the water around 5. Fishing slews that had many down trees and flattened out in the backs into some nice spawning areas. Sitting in 15ft of water casting to the banks. 75-76 degree water, caught a good amount of smalls under 2lbs on shakeys and other Texas rigged plastics.

Then things got interesting.

A friend of mine had some of those jumbo ribbon tail worms, fat 12" or so that looks like a small snake, which we have always laughed at and considered a novelty item. He decides to put one on just for fun, and what a good night it became. We started landing quality fish in the boat almost immediately. 3lbs, 5lbs, and then the monster. Casting into the downed trees and working it into deeper water, we hooked into a lunker. My friend who is relatively new to bass fishing brought the fight to the boat a little too quick and she jumped and spit us out.. Missed it..

With his head hung low he reset and casted back out, and almost immediately, the fight was on again. At first jump, it was the same fish! He was more patient the 2nd time thru, but after her first dive she came up for a jump, and snap. There goes the line. This... Was the final round for that fish.

An awesome night overall, alot due to catching quality fish on a lure I had never used nor considered to be an effective tool. But wow, it was fun.
