Headed to the FG for a couple days We'd & Thurs. Fished the UT side Wed. for Mac pups and Kokes with modest success. Kokes were on the small side and only a few pups, so headed upstream Thurs morning. Went up to Marsh Creek first. Lots of boats but few Kokes. Went further up to the Ranch and hit the "mother lode" of both, Kokes and macs. Water temp was 47.6 and 49 before we left. Kokes were aggressive and nice sized with several in the 20" range. Caught most at 30' to 40'. Had to follow a 70' contour line. A few feet to either side took us out of the school. Some boats targeted the macs on the bottom with very good success, but we stayed with the Kokes. Three of us limited quickly and had lots of doubles. Fought most on downriggers. Pink & green & yellow/orange spinner squids.

Sorry, didn't think to take pictures. Also, fish cleaning station is not open at Lucerne yet. Lots of fun! Trueblue

Great report, love the detail... You bringing some of those rigs to the flotilla that could be traded for cash? Sure wish I could get to the gorge this time of year... Maybe I need to just do it and worry about the consequences after I get back... Thanks for the report... J

Awesome report, good to hear the fish are becoming more active. The fish cleaning station being closed is a bit frustrating, my first 2 trips last year it was not open yet and just had to wait til we got home.

Yes Thursday was a good day on the gorge. We started fishing in front of the ranch. First few fish we dink kokes,so we moved a little more towards the middle of the lake. There we found bigger fish. Then fished the west side across from the ranch, and caught some cutt-bows.,and rainbows. In the afternoon we went north to the top of skunk cliffs, and caught bows, but no kokes. About 4/pm we went south to the ranch, but went around the point towards middle marsh. Glad we did ,caught some real nice 3lb kokes. We caught a mixed bag of fish, kokes.cutt bows, rainbows, and even a couple of nice browns.

Yes, I'll bring some kokanee and lake trout rigs to the flotilla tomorrow. Also have 10 rigs packaged into prizes for you to give away. Will be happy to just help others get some good, effective rigs for the Gorge, but sales are always good.

Excited to meet everyone.

Kokeking,

Glad you had a good day too. I didn't go to the west side, but have found the rainbows there in the past as well. The kokes below the ranch were awsome. We got a few between 3 and 4 pounds, but most were a little smaller. Saw one boat net a really nice laker that was hanging out below the kokes.

Also ran into liketrolling as I was taking the boat out Thursday. He likewise did well on the kokes, but said he was working the macs more than the kokes. He said he was coming to the Flotilla at Willard tomorrow, too. Thats going to be a very nice event. Many thanks to skunkedagain for all his work.

Can't wait to get back. Maybe next week. Retirement is GOOD!!!

Thanks for the reports you guys. I was finally able to pick up a nice used boat that will be safe for the bigger water. Hoping to make it up there within the next month or so.

Check those "browns" again. Not saying they can't be browns, but the DWR planted a bunch of Bear Lake cutts that look a lot like browns at first glance. I've seen several misidentified cutts by folks who thought they were browns, myself included when I caught one through the ice this past ice season. I had a DWR guy with me and he told me check it again, yup it was a cutt. Browns are in there, but not nearly as common as the cutts these days.

Yeah, that's True Blue. I didnt bring it today because I came alone and it takes two to put it in and especially to take it out. I just wanted to attend and help out and give out some prizes. I'll bring it next time ...
