Got up there later than we wanted to. We had poles in the water at 8:30 AM. My 3 brothers and my father were fishing. We first tried anchoring up in a new (to us) area. Almost directly across the lake from Rainbow Bay.

We had nothing for the first 30 minutes and then the fish were biting fast (for my father) he was fishing parallel to shore while those of us fishing behind and to the sides didn't get so much as a bite. He was using chartreuse power bait with glitter and so was I, my two brothers used rainbow and garlic. After he limited out my younger brother moved to the front of the boat. After 5 minutes he had landed a 17 inch 2.5 pound rainbow.

I then took my turn at the front and after an hour of not so much as a nibble we decided to can the bait and get trolling.

We couldn't figure out our real trolling motor so we turned our Mercruiser on to the lowest setting and used it instead. 3 hours of trolling with different lures and we didn't get so much as one bite. All 5 fish were caught on 2 poles. All the other poles didn't so much as get a bite.

Overall we caught 5 rainbows. 17 inch 2.5 lb, 16 inch 2lb, and 3 more 13-14 inchers. This makes 4/5 of my last trips to Deer Creek where I've gone skunked. Oh well, maybe I'll steal my fathers luck next time.

Well at least there was no skunk in the boat, too bad you did not do as good as your Dad. You and TinCan should get together, maybe your luck will change.[Wink]
