A friend and I drove up Huntington Canyon to fish Huntington Reservoir (Mammoth). When we got there the wind was howling and there were white caps. We decided to fish Cleveland instead since it is a little more protected from the wind. We fished from 9:30 until 12:30 and caught a grand total of one fish, a 13" cutthroat, and had a couple of other hits. The water temperature was 51 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 8'. The reservoir is full and spilling as are all of the Manti Mountain reservoirs.
We drove back to Mammoth and it was still windy but we thought what the heck we were already cold and wet so we went for it. We fished from 1:00 until 2:30 and caught a total of five fish, all tigers from 12" to 14". The water temperature was 47 degrees and the visibility in the water of only about 3' with quite a bit of debris in the water.
We were in our tubes using both fast sink and medium sinking lines and various size 6 crystal buggers in green and a size 8 bead head Canada Blood leech.
It was a poor fishing day but we got more than our share of exercise.[
