It would be hard to find a place where you can't catch channel cats now. The spawn is on and the fish are active and biting in water anywhere from one to seven feet deep. Favorite areas are around structure... rocks, reeds, phrags, or exposed weeds. I fished this a.m. at Lincoln and caught cats consistently all morning. Most were in the 22 to 27 inch range.
Try fishing in 4-5 feet of water in front of the first spring at Lincoln and you will catch cats. Use wb or carp meet and don't put your rod down without the bail open. Almost any area on the lake will be fast fishing for cats until the spawn starts to die down.
Go get 'em.

Hey BLK, it sounds like a fun morning. No night shift yet?

Missed my night shift... got wrapped up in the College World Series so decided to go out this a.m. Lots of cats today. Overcast early in the morning but sun chased me off at 9:30. Water temp was at 71-72 degrees. Best cat was a big green female at 27 inches. Half doz. boats on the water, most went to island.
Fun ketchin' but still can't find that big one. Maybe tomorrow.

Planning an all nighter late Friday to Saturday AM. Found a location the last time out that seemed to be promising. Rocky area that drops off about three feet from the bank. Caught a mixed bag of white bass an kitties. No cats over 25" but several were caught. Didn't find that location until time later in the afternoon and the wind monster decided I should head back to Lincoln Beach.

Thanks for your advice, I don't have any WB or Carp so I will try worms and shrimp.

Just take a lite weight rod and small spinner or a small jig wth a chartreuse curly tail. You should hook up with a Whitty for bait.

You could pick up a carp or two with your net, a bow, or a pitchfork in the shallow area on the north side of the launch channel. Lots of them thrashing around there today.
I assume you are young and in good health, but just in case, be aware that there is a large, as in BIG, blow snake hanging out on the north launch arm. As always, at first sighting it is a rattlesnake the size of a small python. Some people, self included, do not do well around snakes.
Carp and wb are the only baits I use but the good ol' crawler should work too.
Good luck to ya.

Thanks for the heads up, I do not care for snakes either. I am not young (73 yrs) but I was planning on launching at the Provo state park since I'm not familiar with the Lincoln launch.
Do you fish on the bottom or under a bobber?

I fish on the bottom and use a bobber if too many rocks, weeds, or snags. I use a 20 pound Power Pro braid with a 2, 3, 4, or 5/0 Kamatsu Octopus hook. Whatever works. Everybody has their favorite method. I also use a Med. heavy Ugly Stik rod.
Works for me.

Don't know how many times I have asked why God created snakes, flys, and skeeters. He must a twisted sence of humor!
