Im looking to hit up Echo this week on my kayak. I have never fished there so I am looking for any advice. I am mostly interested in catching smallies and them letting them go to fight another day.
Thank you.

You can look for the pull offs on the side of the road and throw your yak in, or you can go to the boat ramp and pay 15 Bucks (rip off).
The smallies are everywhere and biting on anything. I was fishing top-water, but bouncing plastics off rocks in 5 feet of water worked to. The lake is high enough right now that shore access is easy.

Any size to the smallies? When I was there last week all I caught were dinks

Is the water still up into the trees along the East shore or has it receded some to expose the sand? Rockport shows 97% full. Assuming Echo is about the same?
Thanks,

The biggest one I caught was 15", the rest were dinks. Also caught a couple browns.

Everything is still submerged. Full to the brim and spilling over the spill way still.

This is what I kept from echo Tuesday morning. And if launching a kayak I suggest maybe parking near the dam to avoid a walk even though the rocks are a bit of an obstacle. I live in henefer so I am practically driving passed there everyday and it is still brimming full.

Great looking fish, congrats!

Kind of what I figured. I bet it stays full through July. Looks like the fish are doing well with more water...

Hit Echo twice this last week and it did not disappoint! Thursday night was probably the best fishing I have seen in a few years. Trolled a Rapala from my kayak and ended up catching 7 bows and 4 smallies. Let em all go to fight another day.
Saturday morning was equally as hot until Noon and then the bite died off for me so I went home.
