Anybody use crankbaits at Cascade for perch? If so, what kind?

Rapala.

CD 7 or smaller. And the new ultra light series, the really small ones work well.

When they work, they work well, but they don't always work.

I have been doing extremely well trolling #5 and #6 Rapala Shad Raps. Many 50-60+ fish days.

Very rarely does it not work. I caught them last summer/fall very well and it's worked well again this year over the past month or two. If you aren't catching them, you aren't on them. Move then move again.

What method are you using to get down to your target depth? I recently added a couple downrigger's to my boat, but didn't know if that would be overkill. I know a lot of guys use lead core or just add split shot to their line.

Lead core. Sufix 15 lb to be exact. I'm running a 25' Fluorocarbon leader to the lure.

Thanks for the information. I don't currently have any lead core, but I do have some rules that I could run it on. I guess it's one more tool that I need to add to my box.

I like to run 2" deep diving crappie cranks in perch after ice out. I don't use lead core but if you do make sure to run a long leader so you don't kill your crankbaits action. Andy has it figured out for sure. And here I thought I was the only one cranking for perch.
