07-27-2017. No sooner started trolling and my buddiy's Kokanee rod flew off the back of the boat in 80 feet of water. $$$. Oops.
Trolled until 11:00. Only Hooked a few cutthroats and and only one Kokanee. Tried different speeds, colors, and depths. What worked well before was not effective today.

Tried to start the main motor but it acted like the battery was dead yet the motor lifted, down riggers worked. ??? Came in my n the kicker motor. After a couple hours trying to figure it out at home I discovered the little safety switch by the ignition switch was in the off position. The same little boat gremlin that threw my buddy's rod off the boat must have flipped that #%*# switch.

Other than that, it was a beautiful day to be fishing.

Sorry to hear about loss of fishing rod. We were up there Sunday an couldn't catch them either..were you seeing them on the finder? I was fishing 40'. And I heard they were catching at 50'

I was seeing them scattered from 30-45 feet. The water temp didn't drop below 55 degrees until 45 feet. I caught a nice 3.15 pounder at 50 feet last Friday. I'm still trying to figure it out but far from giving up.

Thanks for reply. I was only seeing fish from 30-43 ft. So should have got out of conform zone and dropped down lower. Caught several nice cuts high end of slot range at 42 feet.. Congrats on the big one nothing like that for me this year yet. We'll back on Sunday.

what do you use to check water temperature, down deep

this is what I have
FISH HAWK X4D it has a prob that goes on the downrigger weight, sends a signal to a Transducer then to a LDC screen and my cell phone
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3Sn4f5d14s

also I have a FISH HAWK TD that I have had for 4 years.

readings I have been getting
top temp have been close to 70 deg

July 24
6:43 AM 51.4 deg F down 40 feet
7:41 AM 51.5 deg F down 40 Feeet

July 28
6:38 AM 50.1 Deg F down 45 feet
6:59 AM 51.8 deg down 40 feet
10:14 AM 50.9 deg down 44 feet
11:27 AM 51.5 deg down 44 feet

I have got a kokeanee down 50' but most are 44' and above
catching is slowing down and getting 12 kokes in one day may be over on the strawberry side.

I added the Fish Hawk TD to my tackle the s summer. Your readings are consistent with what I'm getting. It seems to work very well. $139.99 from KokaneeTackle.com. No tax/free shipping.
