I found a chance to run down to the pond last night after wrapping up the chores for the day. Launched at the marina at 9:00 and buzzed down to the spot. I had hoped for carp to nail my worms so I wouldn't be stuck with frozen bait, but no carp to be found last night, but I did get several mud cats and two small channels on the worms. Kept having solid hits on the cut bait, but I could not hook them. I think the bait was too big for the 5/0 hook and I'd just keep pulling it out of its mouth. Finally just before midnight one nailed it and ran and nearly pulled my pole in and out of the pole holder. After a great fight, way stronger than last weeks 29.5, so I was thinking I had a scorer for the contest, but it ended up only 25.5" the same as my last entry so all I got was a great fight and a pretty night. Boat ran well this trip so it was a good night. Put the cat back to grow up and hope I can get back Cattin soon. Later J

Sounds like a good night to be out there. Glad you got to have some fun even if it wasn't a monster. I missed your post about the 29.5 last week, Way to go!

A week ago I took my wife down for a night cat run and I got skunked all night then as she was telling me it was time to go, I got my lone cat, and it was a good one for me. 29.5 with a really big head but skinny otherwise. It was fun!! Thanks for the well wish. Later J

At least you got one and some bites. I can't even get a nibble, just them little bait steelers.
Don't know where the cats are down here but they have disappeared. Hopefully things start picking up! Good luck

They really change this time of year. I had to go to the boat and move to transition areas between deep to shallow and fish in the dark. But it still is really slow now so I know what you're saying. Good luck J
