My neighbor had never caught a catfish before, so we set off to Utah Lake to remedy that this morning.
For the first couple hours, we found many catfish willing to play.
His first cat:

Then the white bass moved in. We caught a couple cats, after the white bass moved in, but the bass wouldn't give the cats a chance to take the bait. I tied on one of Tubedude's small lures (no bait needed) on each of our rods and it was bass on for both of us. For about an hour (until I broke off the lure and didn't fish any longer), I would drop the lure off the side of the boat and immediately get several hits. I would hook a white bass and often just lift the white bass on the boat without even reeling. The only way the bites could have been faster is if they would have hit the lure before it hit the water! The average size was about 9 1/2" with several going 11 inches or so.
