Deeper Castable Sonar has many uses and when you're out on the aluminum or lacking an installed fish finder the Deeper comes in very handy. It fits in your pocket and sends a wireless signal to your phone in real time. Here is how I located a piece of structure using my Deeper to find the spot on the spot and start to nail walleye one after another.

Fishing with a 7 foot ugly stick Lite in Medium action rod and the Piscifun Honor Reel. Lure selection was a VMC jig and a leech. 20 pound brain mainline and 10 pound fluorocarbon leader.

Good stuff there but I thought you did not like the Deeper fish finder or maybe just not as much as a flasher for ice fishing[:/]? Seems to work pretty good when fishing in a boat.

Thanks! I almost bought it at Cabela's recently when it was $100 off, but I looked into why it was reduced so much. There is a newer version that does much much more and worth the full amount. That's the one I plan to buy. It's especially important to me because I shore fish and would also like the GPS for ice fishing since my Marcum LX-9 doesn't have GPS nor mapping, so together they make an excellent combination for portable use particularly with my new large screen latest, greatest tablet.

AND, yes, even in these hot days, I'm still thinking ice fishing as just a couple hours ago I was selecting winter tires and new wheels for not having to mount different tires seasonally and instead simply changing the wheels with tires already mounted and high speed balanced.

I'll buy the newest Deeper soon.

I think the Deeper works pretty well Ice fishing. It was the Fish Hunter I wasn't as impressed with. But you're right for ice fishing I still think the best bet if you do a lot of ice fishing is to buy a flasher unit like a Marcum, Vexilar or Humminbird for the best results. Better battery life and not dependent on some other device. Also it is exactly real time then.

For open water it is really handy especially fishing the rivers and from shore to analyze the bottom.

Yes I actually have the Brand new Pro+ Deeper now all charged up and waiting for the next time I can give it a try. I'll post a demo and review video once I get a chance to use the newest latest greatest device!

Thanks, Calicanuck!

I haven't done the research to know what to expect.

I imagine it will integrate well with my powerful new Galaxy Book tablet with Windows 10 that I hope can work with the mapping and the new Deeper. I'm picturing it adding data to the maps from my style of shore fishing entailing walking the shore with a lot of fan out casting. I tend to make fishing an athletic activity.

If that works, then I can add waypoints with notes of structure and where I catch fish. Then later it becomes synergistic with my ice fishing equipment by adding valuable features I don't have.

I was thinking ice fishing as just this past afternoon. I went to see what to get for new wheels to be able to change wheels for ice fishing. Though my vehicle will perform well with winter driving even with summer tires, I understand the soft more gripping rubber compound with ice and snow specific tread design will allow me to experience it's full winter driving performance potential with greatly enhanced safety. The high performance winter tires wear very rapidly when it is not winter driving, so with new wheels, I can make the change quickly with an impact wrench.
