Fished both sides of Strawberry today with slow-to-moderate results. Started the morning looking for kokanee in the triangle. Saw a lot of fish on the finder but they were very hard to entice. Caught a single small kokanee at 50' on a green flasher with a green double-hooked wedding ring. It seemed to revive okay and swam off. Tried a variety of colors, depths, and presentations, but was otherwise unsuccessful for kokanee. I didn't see many other boats pulling in fish, so I don't know if it was just me or just the lake.
By late morning we decided to look for trout, and trolled through the narrows over to Soldier Creek side. Not fast fishing, but there were a few cutthroats and some healthy rainbows to be had. Cruised Soldier Creek until the wind and the waves had finally tired us out, catching a few along the way, nothing remarkable. Fewer fishing boats seemed to be out on the lake today than on a typical Saturday, but in the years I've been fishing Strawberry, I've never seen so many skier/tuber/jetski/surfers there at the same time. DC and Jordanelle must be full to the gills, driving the recreational boaters to Strawberry.
