Fished both sides of Strawberry today with slow-to-moderate results. Started the morning looking for kokanee in the triangle. Saw a lot of fish on the finder but they were very hard to entice. Caught a single small kokanee at 50' on a green flasher with a green double-hooked wedding ring. It seemed to revive okay and swam off. Tried a variety of colors, depths, and presentations, but was otherwise unsuccessful for kokanee. I didn't see many other boats pulling in fish, so I don't know if it was just me or just the lake.

By late morning we decided to look for trout, and trolled through the narrows over to Soldier Creek side. Not fast fishing, but there were a few cutthroats and some healthy rainbows to be had. Cruised Soldier Creek until the wind and the waves had finally tired us out, catching a few along the way, nothing remarkable. Fewer fishing boats seemed to be out on the lake today than on a typical Saturday, but in the years I've been fishing Strawberry, I've never seen so many skier/tuber/jetski/surfers there at the same time. DC and Jordanelle must be full to the gills, driving the recreational boaters to Strawberry.

Appreciate your report -- sounds like another tough fishing day, but always good to be out on the water....that's what I've had on Strawberry the last couple times also, but I'm trying again, hopefully Tues. or Wed.....Did you try higher up early in the A.M., or just start deeper right away?

Yes, always good to be on the water. It was a really nice day, weather-wise, until around noon.

We started off lower, 40'-50' range. According to the fish finder, there were fish from 30'-50'.

Ya, I was looking for your report for your trip.....hoping you would have made it sound a little better, but a day out on the water is always better than not being on the water ....well, usually.....believe it's my turn; if weather permits, I'll be on the Berry side on Tues to try again.....We'll see what happens....Guluk....
