Information on the front lines of the combat zone;
The normal to above normal snowfall has resulted in the appearance of the water managers managing the river like it would normally flow, when in fact we know this is not possibly true. I speak of the water flows...
This spring many looked on in horror as water discharges hit 17,00 CFS, 5 times the 15 year average, ripping out many log jams, rerouting channels, flooding riparian areas, moving gravel bars and scouring out much of the sand off to the inlet at Deer Creek.
Then they tapered it off, like a normal runoff would do, bringing it down to around 500 CFS for the beginning of July, down to 350 at the end of July, then dropping below the 15 year median flow to 250 for the beginning of August and now hovering well below the 350 median at 165 CFS.
At it's current level it is very friendly wading and there are plenty of bugs left to hatch as well as abundant hoppers for the fish to feast on. Riffles are shallow, there is abundant pocket water and but the pools are still plenty deep.

Just FYI...

I thought 350 CFS was perfect..but 165......wtf???!!!

I see that on the USGS site it shows 165 cfs for the middle Provo but the Central Utah Water site shows the flow at 300 cfs since the 14th of August.[:/]

Which one do you think is right?

Both are correct.
They are taking their readings from different places.
Right at the dam the amount being released is 300 cfs.
The Timp canal takes about 40 right there at the dam and then Rock Creek takes another 90 or so leaving it at about 160 at the bridge on River road. There is another diversion right at the River road bridge that takes about 20 and one about a mile down river right that takes another 40 or so.

Thanks, that's good to know.
