I went up to Strawberry Monday to try some cutthroat jigging and to see if I could get some footage with the Water Wolf. It worked out pretty well. I caught a bunch of cutts using 3.5" pearl gitzits and chub minnows, all between 18 and 21 inches. I also took GoPro vids, but they're just of me reeling in and netting fish, not very interesting. I took extra time reeling these in so I could get more on the videos. There are a bunch of clips but I didn't want to put too many on here.
I was busy reeling in fish on my main rod, and didn't even jig this one with the camera. It just sat in the rod holder until I noticed a bite on it.
Edit -- I added a short clip from the GoPro so you can see what the camera setup looked like.

Very nice, love the video and it sure tells you a lot.
They were very aggressive cuts. The visiabilty looked good what was the depth of the fish.?
Were you only see that size of fish? And cuts only?
I did the same thing a few years ago just outside the Renegade boat launch. We used meat to but even after losing the chub still caught fish.
Great report thanks.

I fished at 38' deep all morning. I was surprised that it wasn't darker down there than it was. All the fish I filmed or caught were in this size range, and all cutts. Trolling for kokes, we often catch smaller cutts that are suspended in the lake over deeper water.

[#800000]Absolutely amazing how many times they can take the lure/bait and NOT engage the hook. Who'd a thunk it?[/#800000]

What is the best source for chub meat? What scent do you like?

I don't think anyone is supplying chubs anymore (dang it). My source is Scofield Reservoir. No real preference for scent.

Great video Lanny, thanks

Great videos. Interesting seeing them bite the head when the bait was at the tail. It clearly shows why one doesn't hook every fish even when they hit it hard.

Watching 3 hours of it was very informative and surprising. I watched them completely knock the bait off, and still go after the jig instead of the chub even with the jig just hanging there essentially not moving. Sometimes one would take the jig in its mouth and sit there and not move off with it. Sometimes 3 fish would be aggressive and almost fight over it. There weren't any small ones down there at all, they all appeared to be about that same size. Whenever I fish that way for them again, I'll visualize these videos, and what's really going on down there.

Thanks for the videos! Very informative. I'll be using a stinger hook from now on, and I'll be giving a VERY firm "up-jig" haha. Too many of those fish had the whole thing in their mouth and swam off.
Ahh - I just re-read your original post, where you said you weren't really fishing this rod. I assume you hooked more on the rod you were jigging.

Cool vidio, Really shows what crappy fighters Cutts are. They start wobbling even before they taste the hook.
