[Smile]The cold weather can't discourage my son and his friends. I was hesitating on going fishing in the cold and snow yesterday but after those young men got me going it had to be one of the best times I have had fishing. We went to a small stream on Pine Valley near the Oakgrove area. In about a foot of snow a light snow flurries we got out the gear and found a hole or two. Almost a fast as the line hit the water we were geting strikes. As we are big on catch a release we each caught 6-8 fish in under 1 hour. These little cut throats most between 6-10 inches were just a pleasure to hook and fun to to bring in. I can't tell you all how much I enjoyed a few minutes with my son and his friends. Fishing is not only about catching fish is who you spend the time with. If you ever are feeling like life is over running you take the boy's advice and go fishin.

Have fun.

Welcome to the Utah board no1angler, it sounds like you had a great day with the boys and great advise about going fishing. I'm not sure where Oakgrove is, what part of Utah is that? WH2

Welcome to the board! I've been on for about a week now and this place is great! You hit it right on the head, its not all about catching but the time spent in the outdoors with friends and loved ones. Good to have ya here!

The area of Oak Grove is on the South side of Pine valley Mountain above Silver Reef in Southern Utah 15 miles north of St.George. The area is going to require a 4x4 to get into this time of year and the stream is small with little winter access. But if you know where to go you can sure enjoy the peace and quite that's there as well as some fast quick fishing with friends. Not many people know that this exists or that the stream has fish either.

Nice report, and welcome to the Utah board. You're gonna like it here.

fishhunter, you're absolutely right its about spending time with friends and not about catching fish. My outlook on the subject might change if I actually caught fish. Lately I've enjoyed several early morning picnics on the ice. Next time I might not even bring my pole. LOL

It sounds like you had a load of fun and I hope you and the kids get to have more time to fish. It is great to be able to take the kids fishing.
