No elk hunt, just looking to fish. It's a bit of a drive for me so I'm weighing options on where fishing would be best.

this is always a good time of year to fish Panguitch. I wouldn't hesitate heading there, unless the weather starts looking bad.

I was there 9/23. It was cold, windy and snowed some. [] Most people were trolling and not seeing much action. I caught a couple of decent rainbows over next to the cliffs near the north shore ramp in 15-20 ft.

Latest State Report:
Panguitch Lake: (Oct. 6) Fishing for rainbow trout has been fair to good from boats. Power Bait, night crawlers, and trolling Rapalas have all produced well. Look for shore fishing to start to improve once the algae dies off and settles out in the next few weeks.
Not sure I trust the reports from the State, but ......
