We blasted off en masse amidst the mess caused by UC Anglers and headed to our first spot. Within 15 minutes we had hooked and lost our first fish, and in another 10 minutes we got our first keeper on a creature bait. 15 minutes later I landed our second keeper on a WhopPlop when it hit the bait at the boat. We then continued fishing as the area became crowded and did not boat another keeper for another hour as we landed one on a Spinnerbait. Shortly after we landed #4 on a worm on a grassline. We felt pretty good at the time as we were finally chased out of the slough with the appearance of the 7th boat. We headed to our second spot and while dodging a boat Dusty hooked a bass that come loose. We then hit a rip rap bank and finally caught our fifth keeper. Went to the area I lost a big smallie in a few weeks ago and left with only a small spot to show for it. Went back to the rip rap for the remaining time and culled slightly twice. Caught all 22 fish on plastics, spinnerbait, topwater, and swimbait. Ended day 1 in third place with a five fish limit heading to Sullivans.
