Lincoln, Neb. -- The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has scheduled two bowhunter education classes in the Lincoln area.
Nebraska law states that all persons 12 years of age or older, born on or after Jan. 1, 1977, must have successfully completed a state-certified bowhunter education course before hunting deer, antelope or wild turkey with archery equipment.
The first class will be at the Hunter Education Building at the State Fair Grounds, March 1 and 4, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. and March 6, noon - 5:30 p.m. Students must attend all three sessions to become certified. Preregistration is required.
The second class will be at Raymond Central High School, March 16, 22 and 23, 6 - 9:30 p.m. Students must attend all three sessions to become certified. Preregistration is required.
Students must be 11 years of age to be certified by instructors. Those younger than 11 may attend, but will not be tested or certified. There is no maximum age limit for students and no charge for the course. Interested parents of youngsters taking the class are also encouraged to attend.
People living in Lancaster, Douglas or Sarpy counties who want to register for a hunter education class may now do so on the Commissions web site at www.outdoornebraska.org.
