I took my kick boat to Renegade yesterday. How crazy is that?! Some snow on the road. Some ice but not too bad. Got there and the ramp was frozen except one spot on the left. Just enough to back down and keep my tires on cement. Perfect conditions. No wind, no people. The right half of the bay was iced over with a thin sheet. To the left was open all the way into Indian Creek Bay. Off I went expecting ravenous fish. No bites, no fish wanted to play. First two hours netted two fish. However, the dinner bell went off at 2:00pm and for 2 hours I had a blast. Many nice fish. Fat fish. Some of the cutthroats look like rainbow footballs. They liked watermelon tubes better than white. They went after my white and yellow streamer fly. At times I had a double on. Biggest fish was 20 inches.
I set a new record of how late in the year I could fish the berry on my kick boat. The old record was December 2nd. I beat the record by 10 days!!
This lake will soon be frozen over. Ice fishing here we come, after Christmas.

Thanks for the update on Strawberry. I’m glad you got into some fish while you were there. I was hoping to get my boat out on Saturday. Do you think the Lake will still be open?

Sounds like heaven.

Good to hear you got out again one last trip up there. Thanks for the report

Yes, I think it will still be open by Saturday. The main bay is not getting a thin layer. Just some of the bays. That melts after a couple of hours or any wind.

Thanks for the heads up!
