Had a great day at Scofield today. 7" of ice, 2" of snow on top, sunny skies and no wind. Caught a chub right off the bat, but that was the last chub of the day. I was picking up a few cutthroats and then 9:30-10:30 it was non-stop action from the cuttys. Slowed down a little after that but still picked up several. Best depth was 17' and they were hugging the bottom. Caught several from 6 FOW out to 24 FOW but right around 17' was the best. Maniacs tipped with chub kept them coming back all day. Every single cutty was 11-12.5". Probably caught 25+ and they were all nearly identical. Was hoping to pick up a tiger but no luck today.

Thanks for the report. Did the whole reservoir look safe?

Thanks for the report and pics. It sounds like it was a fun time.

It's nice to be able to catch something besides chubs.[Wink]

It seems like at least a few tigers would start to show up in the catch since the DWR stocked almost as many of them as they have cutthroats.

The best thing that has happened for Scofield was last winters snowpack. The reservoir is 73% full now, this time last year it was 18% full. That is about 16 1/2' lower at this time last year.[Smile]

It will be interesting to see how the wipers and tiger muskie do in there in the coming years.

The North end looked a little sketchy. There was a big pressure ridge that looked like it ran all the way across the reservoir by the North park. There were also a few random dark spots in the snow in that area that I would assume are thin areas. Looking at the South end from the road it looked good as far as I could see.

Nice report and thanks for sharing! Any machines on the ice toward the south end or by the island?

No tracks in the snow that I could tell. One snowmobile in the dam arm where everyone was.
