Started out before sunrise doing a road trip with Duchense as my destination with AFDan but by the time we got there still had plenty of daylight. So we ended up doing a roundtrip to Vernal to Manila to Mountainview and I-80 on back to No Ogden, a 500mi+ adventure for the day. The sun was setting about the time we hit Evanston. By the time we got home it wasn't too late but bed time was weighing heavy on the old geesers minds since our daily naps weren't to be.
Here are some pics of the lakes along the US 40 route. The road to Strawberry marina is snow covered and closed at turnoff to Renegade. Once at the marina we notice one boat fishing with 4 guys right off of launch ramp. There is still open water on the main body but can see ice forming around the edges. The back bays appear to be solid with some icers braving the ice. 2 pics were taken from ladders. Some fishermen fishing ladders with good catches mostly slot fish.
Next stop is Current Creek, very little open water giving away to ice, very unstable for ice fishing. 2 pics
Next is Starvation Res, all open water no ice forming from what we could see. 2 pics
Steinaker Dam has some ice but like all others so far very unstable for ice fishing. 2 pics
Red Fleet also doing the ice thing but very unstable. 3 pics
As our path crossed into Flaming Gorge from upper elevations it appears to be open water. But getting down into lower elevation areas like Sheep Creek and other back bays are iced some. Not sure of areas for ice fishing if any.
