What's up with the crappie this year? Can't get them to bite the last three times I've been out there. Been trying mostly at night moving around alot to locate them. I can find them because every hole I drill I stick my fish finder in has the screen lit up like a Christmas tree. Even had my camera down so I know they are crappie.
Anybody having any luck for crappie? Going back tonight to try it again.

F.Y.I. Looks like Tightline is going to have their tournament there because Starvation won't have any ice. Don't know the date yet.

I made a trip up this morning with the same results. I know all the perch I caught were puking up baby perch so maybe they are just well fed this year.

At night, crappie often feed on tiny, almost transparent little critters. How they see em is beyond me, but they do.

I've seen tiny little clear jig bodies about the size of a maggot that imitate them.

I experienced the same this morning at pineview. We caught only a few crappie. Tried all my usual crappie set ups with little success. Tons of fish on the finder. I even tried ice flies like Rocky mentioned, crappie are tough to get to bite. On the good side perch fishing is great.
