A buddy and I are thinking of ice fishing Electric for Tigers and Kokes sometime soon, anyone have any recent reports?

I was there last weekend it was a little slow but we still iced 6 decent tigers biggest was 19"

How thick is the ice up there? Safe to put snowmobiles on?

We're going to up Saturday morning, I'll hopefully have some pics and a report when we get back.

Went by 3 days ago. Open water 100 yards or so from ramp. At least that is what it looked like to me.

We went to the north end on Saturday. It was very snowy, but the roads were pretty good as they were getting plowed actively (plow probably went by 12 times in the few hours we spent there).

We drilled a few holes with my dull 8" hand auger through about 10-12" of ice directly into mud. Oops.

Finally we walked far enough south to hit water. Drilled a few holes through 2" of slush and then again 10-12" of ice into about 10 FOW. Had some very aggressive bites (probably tigers). Fish didn't seem picky, they would bit about any jig we tried, tipped with nightcrawlers, meal worms, or corn.

Unfortunately the bites were sporadic and far between, and we didn't get any of them landed.

We may have had better luck fishing down by the dam, but we didn't even drive to the south end to see what it looked like, so there you go.

Is there really open water in the middle? or is it just open at the bubbler?

no it all froze over a week ago. the bobble up is off right now as far as i could tell the other day. ice was still thin out there but if the bubble stays off it will get thick fast.. but i' m not going over in that area to check it out for a while any way..
