I have done well on all three trips this year. The key is to get away from the crowds, minimize the action you give your foxy jig (I like chartruse with something to "sweeten" the hook), and pay very close attention to the almost non-existant hits. I have found fish on the bottom at all depths up to 52'. The cutts seem to either be on the bottom or suspended at 8'-12'. The rainbows are still a mystery this year for me but people claim they are in the shallows in 6'-12' of water. I plan on concentrating at those depths this Friday & Monday. Good luck & report back your experience.

MRJ has perfect advise. White or Chartreuse,4lb. test on the rod is a must. and watch for the fish to lift not pull.

One other thing I forgot to mention. When you have a light lure, because of the cold there is a natural coil to the fishing line and lure will not always take out the excess slack. Watch the coils and the second they start to straighten out in the least, you have a hit. These coils extend down into the water as well and using a bobber does not necessarily give you an indication right off the bat. I often use a split shot sinker 2'-3' up from the hook that takes most of the coil slack out of the line so you can detect a hit a whole lot faster. I know a guy that does that but packs power bait around the split shot. I never tried that because of the possible false strikes, but this guy swears by it.
