DIAMOND VALLEY: Bass fishing is slow to fair with bass moving up and down the water column, with some fish shallow clearing nests for the spawn, and others holding in 50-feet of water. Water temperatures have been hovering around the mid-fifties in the morning and rising to the high-fifties by most afternoons. Carolina-rigged lizards, swimbaits, plastic worms, and nightcrawlers have been the best baits. Josh Moreno, Hemet, landed two smallmouth bass that weighed 2-8 each. He landed one on a Zara Spook and sight fished the other smallmouth off a nest. Trout fishing has been slow to fair with the best catches reported by the marina. Mini-jigs, nightcrawlers under a bobber, or Power Bait have been the best bets for trout. Jesse Mena, Hemet, caught two trout that weighed 8-8 total on Lime Twist Power Bait from shore. Lori Carnahan, Sky Valley, tapped the lake for a 4-0 trout. Rental boat reservations are still recommended for weekend, but shore fishing, private boat launching, and weekday boat rentals are available daily now without reservations. The toll-free reservations telephone line is 1-800-590-LAKE (5253) and can be made online at www.dvmarina.com. For fishing info, you can call the marina at (909) 926-7201.
PERRIS: The lake's water temperature has been rising steadily since the lake was lowered and refilled for repairs. Bass fishing is now starting to rebound and a fair bite has been reported on a smaller grade of fish to 1-8. Fishing pressure has been nonexistent, and the wind over the weekend kept many anglers off the water. Dan Marino, Moreno Valley, scored a 6-0 on a green jig in Rockclimbers Cove on Saturday. Most bass are showing about 30 feet deep, and anglers fishing purple or green plastics, pig and jigs, or big trout swimbaits have had the best action. Trout are fair on small spinners or Power Bait around the launch ramps and marina, and another DFG trout plant went in this week. Other species are slow. For more information on fishing, call the marina at (909) 657-2179, Lakeside Market at (909) 943-4364, or the state park at (909) 940-5600.

CORONA LAKE: Very good trout action at the mid-lake locations for boat anglers and the far shore for those walking the bank. Top baits have been nightcrawlers, floating baits and small jigs doused with Crave Gravy or Grease. Top fish this past week was an 18-pounder landed by Tim Garner, San Marcos. Garner also had a 15-pounder, and the two-fish catch gave him the best stringer of the week. Rick Deangles, Fontana, landed a 15 1/2-pounder. Most of the rainbows have been from 3/4-pound to two-pounds, and a number of limits have been weighed in at the bait shop, and steelhead will be planted this week. For more information, call (909) 277-4489 or log on at www.fishinglakes.com.
SKINNER: The trout bite is still the best bet here after a plant last Thursday. Ramps One and Two have been the best spots for anglers fishing floating baits, inflated nightcrawlers, and small spinners. David Livingston, Riverside, caught a 5-8 rainbow on a Rapala in the east end, while Daniel Evans, San Bernardino, caught five trout on nightcrawlers that weighed a total of 18-4, and his top fish was a 5-0. The striper bite has slowed to fair with a few showing in the mornings on plugs in the east end, Ramp 2, and inlet. Chicken liver or anchovies are still getting a few fish later in the day. Fly anglers Tommy Girvin, Temecula, and Kyle Gonzales, Tampa, Fla., caught and released 11 stripers to 5-0. Randall Franks, Corona, had stripers at 5-0 and 3-0 on swimbaits. A few largemouth bass are showing on nightcrawlers in the Ramp 2 area. Catfish and panfish are very slow. For more information, call the marina at (909) 926-1505.

JEAN'S CHANNEL CATS: Good to excellent trout action on Power Bait and similar floating boats. Fish baskets and long-handled nets are provided to anglers. This is a pay-by-the-pound fishery. For more information, call (909) 679-6562
