LOPEZ: Trout fishing has been good on inflated nightcrawlers, Power Bait, Power Worms or Kastmasters. There will be a trout derby on May 1 and 2 with many tagged trout to be planted. There will be a tagged trout worth $3,000 if caught one of those days. If the fish is not caught during the tournament, the lake will use a lottery to choose three $1,000 prize winners. There is a $30 entry fee to enter the tournament, and many cash and prizes will be awarded. Bass fishing has been fair and it took a 21-0 stringer to win a bass tournament held at the lake last weekend. Top bass of the week was a 12-4 landed by Paul Pierce, Pismo Beach, on a Yammamoto Spider Grub. There is a fair crappie and bluegill bite in deep water by the dam on red and white mini-jigs. For more information, call (805) 489-1006.
