I'm new to this site has willard picket up hurd they was catching fish and got the itch

My son and I fished at Willard yesterday 3-31-18.
It was the first trip for the boat and we were there to get all the bugs out.

The good news is that the boat ran great.
The bad news is that we got skunked.

The only fish that I saw caught was a nice catfish.
The weather was great and we had a fun day on the water despite the lack of tight lines.

Hopefully it will pick up in a week or so.

I went out this past Saturday to Willard. Nothing for me. Didn't see anyone catching any fish. Marked a few, but no luck.

I’ve been to Willard three times this year in a boat and still haven’t caught a fish. I just bought my first boat so I’m still learning how to fish out of a boat. I’ve been trying mostly rapalas and some plastic jigs, and bottom bouncers with worms. Supposedly those will all work at Willard when the water warms up. I’d love any other advice people have for someone trying to learn how to fish Willard from a boat. I have been trolling trolling between 1.8 -2.5 MPH.

As you have said until the water warms up it will be better to slow your trolling down some. For crankbaits go just fast enough to get some good action out of the lure and for trolling bottom bouncers try to get down as slow as you can go and still have the blade spinning around .9 to 1.1 is where I have the best success trolling bouncers even when the water is warm let alone when it's cold.

Welcome to BFT, I think as you're seeing Willard isn't there quite yet, but should be picking up as the weather warms between storms... Look for days after about 3 sunny days then hit later in the afternoon when the water has warmed up from the day... It will get going before too much longer... Good luck J
