Hit the lake early yesterday... just brutal conditions; the rain/snow/sleet wasn't overly bad, but the wind driving it was miserable, and relentless.

I managed 3 on chironomids and missed/lost 3 others... only fished for about 1 1/2 hours before calling it. Water is ice cold and the bite very subtle. All were healthy 16-17" fish.

Looks to be another high water year up there again, although the lower reservoir is extremely low... so maybe they'll be transferring a lot of water? Inlet already flooded up to the rock pile.

Some pics attached.

Thanks for the report.

That first fly, What is that tied with? Great picture btw.

Good to see someone got into them. I showed up around 8 and left at 930 after getting my share of the wind that same day.

Nice, I'll have to start throwing my gear in the car and head up after work.

Thanks for the report and pictures. I admire the commitment to fish under those conditions.

The Christmas fly? That's just green Flashabou wound up the shank (over a tapered thread base) with red (small) holographic tinsel counter-wrapped to make the rib segments.

Two coats of Sally Hanson's holds it together for a while, but these spring Cutt's are toothy critters. Hard on flies. [Wink]

How deep were your running your chironomids?

I toughen my c-mids up with a thin layer of Loon UV finish. Thanks for the return response I'm going to tie a couple of those up.

About 8-9 ft to the first one... trailing fly another foot and a half or so.
