After a month and a half of NO fishing, during our house restoration after a water leak, we finally got out early Friday morning below the dam. Chris was having withdrawal too as he does not have a boat. So no fishing for him also. He does have a camper, (but no boat) ???

Anyway we had decided to free line some LARGE shiners. Chris stopped by Jack's bait shop and got some beauties. Ran up near the wing wall and started drifting the bait along the current line. Chris had a hit pretty quick and the fish was pulling drag so I figured probably a drum or whatever. Then we saw it was a LM bass. I got the big net in action and scooped her on the first pass. 9 1/2 pounds. Personal best for Chris.

Of course when you start a day that way it is hard to improve. I promptly cought a large channel cat (why me) and Chris got a couple of drum around 12 #. A bit later the bite slowed so we started drifting from dam down below the RR bridge, still using shiners. Chris got a good Smallie and I got a very nice spot. Lunch and a couple oF white bass ended the morning.

I tried the rig and other swim baits, and spinnerbait just in case a stray striper was around. No such luck. Will post a pic if some one will do it for me.

Regards, Norman
