I have been learning to fish Chironomids more this year. they work and work well.

Size 10 to 14? I've been tying to small then. I tie from 16 to 20.

I'm probably fishing a size 12 or 14 90% of the time... Sometimes larger, rarely smaller (although ice out hatch on Little Dell sees a #16 dark olive).
